PHOENIX (KSAZ) -

An Apache Junction woman is desperately searching for her beloved horse after it got spooked and ran away somewhere in the Superstition Mountains.

She lost her horse on Sunday; the woman is desperate to find her horse.

The only thing that may lead her to her horse is her cell phone, which was inside her saddlebag.

Since Sunday afternoon Michelle Mason has been returning to the Superstition Mountains searching for any sign of her beloved horse, Lance.

Lance got spooked and ran off while she and some friends were walking their horses through a culvert.

Michelle was badly hurt trying to hold on to the reins.

"I'm supposed to be in bed not moving for three to four days because of blood clotting and stuff, but it's my horse it's my baby," she said.

The horse still has its saddle on and inside the saddlebag a key to possibly tracking him Michelle's cell phone.

Mason believes the phone still has battery.

She contacted her cell phone provider, T-Mobile in hopes of getting them to locate the phones signal but the person on the phone told her they can't.

"I know it's not a human being, but he's my boy, and we've been through a lot together, and this is something else we're going through and he's all alone he's scared," said mason.

Cellphone signals have been used in the past to helps rescuers locate lost hikers, and this is what she was hoping to do to find Lance.

FOX 10 contacted T-Mobile corporate, and they said a customer service representative will work with Mason to track her phone and hopefully find Lance.
