Kindergartner Spends Entire Day At The Wrong School

Posted: Updated:

A kindergarten student spends the entire day at the wrong school in Schenectady, New York.

Patricia Rodriguez loaded her daughter, Janeya, onto a school bus she thought was her daughters but instead of being taken to her school, the 5 year-old was taken to the Yates school.

In a strange coincidence, that school was expecting a new student that day.

When the administration asked Janeya if she was the new student ,Janeya said yes and went through the school day as the new student.

When she boarded a bus home, the bus driver didn't know where she lived and brought her back to the school.

That's when police were called in to unravel the mystery.

Janeya's mom is taking the blame for the mixup.

"The way that I felt yesterday, was if you hadn't found her, it would have been horrible for me. I blame myself.  I blame myself because I put her on there," explains Janeya's mother, Patricia Rodriguez.

The superintendent says someone at Janeya's school should have reported her absence he also says from now on new students will need to have photo id.
