West Kensington Dollar Store Robbery Caught On Camera

Detectives are looking for a man who robbed a dollar store in West Kensington. The incident happened on March 12, at 6:36pm, on the 2400 block of North 5th Street inside the Golden Block Dollar Plus.

A 32-year-old woman working was working as a cashier when a man entered the store, took several items then placed them on the counter.

He then went to the refrigerator and when the woman walked by the suspect he grabbed her around her neck and placed a handgun to her head.

Surveillance video shows the man then pushed her towards the counter demanding money in Spanish to a witness. When the witness stepped away from the counter in fear the man was going to shoot him the offender began to hit the complainant on the head with the gun.

The witness then grabbed a bat jumping over the counter and hitting the suspect forcing him out of the store. After a failed attempt at obtaining money the suspect fled the store on foot and was last seen east on Cumberland Street.

The woman suffered minor injuries and was taken to Episcopal Hospital for treatment.

The witness also suffered minor injuries but did not require medical treatment.

Police are looking for the suspect described as a Hispanic man, between the ages of 26-28, light complexion, 5'5'. If you have any information about the man in the video you are asked to call Northeast Detectives at 215-686-3353.
