WASHINGTON -

The lights at the U.S. Capitol dome went out temporarily for almost a half hour Wednesday night.

The dome went dark at around 8:17 p.m. and the lights were restored at around 8:45 p.m.

A source told Fox News that Pepco’s grid took a momentary hit when thunderstorms passed through the area.

The buildings experienced only a short blink of power loss, but the controller for the Capitol dome lights had to be manually reset.
