High winds, big temperature drop after storm passes through area

Posted: Updated:
ACCUWEATHER - After a springlike start to the week in Washington, D.C., a sharp change to frigid weather is in store for Thursday.

Colder air ushered into the region behind a line of gusty thunderstorms which cut power to thousands around the District.

Subfreezing air will settle in by Thursday morning which can ice up any lingering wet patches on roadways or sidewalks.

AccuWeather RealFeelĀ® temperatures will be in teens throughout the day Thursday.

"The next few days will be like a winter sandwich," said AccuWeather.com Chief Meteorologist Elliot Abrams.

A frigid Thursday will be saddled between a pair of relatively mild days. Highs will return to the upper 50s for both Friday and Saturday.
