Local Employees Create Dishes For Special Mellow Mushroom Menu

Posted: Updated:
SUWANEE, Ga. -

The menu at Mellow Mushroom is looking a little different these days -- thanks in part to two Georgia employees of the pizza chain.

Suwanee's Ben Power and Cumming's Cole Smith are both winners in the Homegrown Challenge, a Mellow Mushroom competition which called for employees to submit their best pizza, salad, calzone, hoagie, and cocktail recipes.  More than 85 were submitted, and judged on taste, originality, and presentation.  Power's Thaidal Wave Hoagie won Best Overall Food, and Smith's Slow Ridin' Chicken Salad also took top honors.  Both are now available on the limited-run Homegrown Picks menu, available through March 31st.

So what took the men's creations to the top?  Good Day Atlanta's Paul Milliken volunteers for the "tough" assignment to taste-test and find out.  Click the videos above and enjoy the feast for the eyes!

Ten time Ironman, Dave Nazaroff recently rode 900 miles on his bicycle...from Nyack, New York...to Georgia. He didn't do it to get in shape, or to win a competition; he did it to raise money for a 11 year old Callie Truelove in Gainesville, Georgia.
