The Oscars Are Glamorous...and Unglamorous

Posted: Updated:

The Oscars is the most glamourous and unglamorous event I cover. Sure, you see the biggest stars wearing the most stunning gowns and near blinding jewels. But you see them from behind a barricade! And that barricaded area is nothing short of a sardine can. 1000s of press members all squeezed into a tiny space. I mean, if you have personal space issues...this would be your worst nightmare.

This year was even more stuffed to the max with all the rain gear and umbrellas taking up extra space. And once you leave the red carpet barricade area, you waddle over to the live truck area in your gown and heels to watch the show from inside the truck. Your bathroom is a porta potty and you have no access to food and water unless you brought it from home. I usually eat 2 cliff bars in a span of 13 hours, but luckily this year, some kind folks who were able to get pizzas delivered to the highly secured live truck area shared their good fortune with me and my crew. THANK YOU.

But all this inconvenience is forgotten the moment you're going live for the 10pm newscast and you get to see the joy of an Oscar winner first hand. And! They let you hold their 8.5 pound statue!!!

Just don't drop it:)

For those of you who asked about my Oscar gown details. You can find that and more pictures on
