WASHINGTON (AP) -- Police are investigating a high-speed crash that has closed streets near the U.S. Capitol.

Capitol police say a car traveling at a high rate of speed became airborne and crashed into a tree around 3 a.m. Friday.

The crash occurred adjacent to the Spirit of Justice Park, which is south of the Capitol and the U.S. House office buildings.

Police say the driver was taken to a hospital. There's no update on the driver's condition.
