CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Three people stole several handbags from a store in the high-end retail area on Michigan Avenue Monday afternoon.

About 3:30 p.m., a man and two women thought to be between 18 and 25 years old grabbed several handbags from the store in the 900 block of North Michigan Avenue, police said.

They got into a white SUV and are not in police custody, police said. Authorities would not say how much the handbags are worth.

Unconfirmed dispatch reports indicated the thieves took several Burberry handbags from Bloomingdale's, valued at roughly $6,000.

Area Central detectives are investigating.
