Polar Plunge: 'Hard not to want to do it again'

Posted: Updated:
MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) -

"It's really hard not to want to do it again."

Not what you'd expect to hear from someone who just jumped into icy cold water on a subzero day, but thousands of Polar Plunge participants showed up to support the Special Olympics on Saturday at Lake Calhoun.

In 2007, the Polar Plunge raised $53,000. This year alone, in one day, the Plunge raised $1.1 million.

About 4,300 plungers and 600 5K runners participated in events at Lake Calhoun on Saturday where temperatures didn't' even reach 0.

"It's cold I can't lie, but it's refreshing and you're doing it for such a good cause that it's really hard not to want to do it again," one plunger said.
