Flood Advisory Extended in LA County

Posted: Updated:

LOS ANGELES COUNTY (FOX 11) - A Flood Advisory has been extended for the following areas of LA County until 9:15 p.m.:

- Antelope Valley, Santa Clarita Valley

- LA County Mountains, excluding the Santa Monica Range

- San Gabriel Valley

- Santa Monica Mountains Recreational areas

- San Fernando Valley

- LA County Coastline, including Downtown LA

- Cities in particular danger include: Tujunga, Sunland, Sierra Madre, Lake View Terrace, La Crescenta, La Canada Flintridge, Monterey Park, Long Beach, Lancaster, Diamond Bar, Acton.

At 6:55 p.m. Doppler radar readings were indicating a line of showers and thunderstorms with moderate to locally heavy rain over portions of Western LA County. Including, additional showers with light to occasionally moderate rain were also over much of eastern LA County.

The showers and isolated thunderstorms will continue to affect the area through 9:15 p.m.

Roadway flooding will be possible over portions of LA County through the evening, especially in low-lying areas and intersections.

In addition, there will continue to be a threat of rockslides.

Do not drive your vehicles into areas where the water covers the roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow a vehicle to cross safely.

Move to higher ground.

A Flood Advisory means river or stream flows are elevated or ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or imminent.

This is a message from the National Weather Service of Oxnard.
