New tablet simulates different surfaces with sensory touchscreen

Posted: Updated:

A Japanese company has just unveiled new technology that simulates different surfaces as you run your finger across the screen of a tablet device.

The tablet mimics sensations that include plucking the strings of a guitar and running your hand across a piece of fabric while your shopping online.

So how does it work?

The company says it's developed a solution that relies on vibration to recreate different surfaces.

While the tablet is still in its infant stage, the company hopes to have a model out sometime next year.
