Postal worker assaulted, robbed in NE DC

WASHINGTON - Authorities tell FOX 5 a postal carrier was assaulted and robbed in northeast D.C. Tuesday afternoon, and the search is on for the two suspects.  It happened along Hawaii Avenue NE, and the Postal Service says the letter carrier was tied up in a vehicle by his attackers.

Police say the victim was on his postal route when the attack to place.  The man was taken to a local hospital. He treated for his injuries and later released. Neighbors tell FOX 5 the victim is a kind, friendly man who has delivered their mail for more than a decade.  They also say he's a minister at a local church. 

The Postal Service says they're still trying to determine what if anything was taken. 

FOX 5's Lauren DeMarco reports there was a second scene along Webster Avenue NE where a postal van was parked. 

The suspects are described as two black males.  The first suspect is believed to be in in his late 20s to 30s, weighing about 175 pounds.  He has a dark complexion and is armed with a handgun.  The second suspect is described as a black male with a light complexion who was wearing a ski mask.  He was also armed with a handgun.
