Alexandria police investigating shooting

Posted: Updated:
ALEXANDRIA, Va. - Police in Virginia are investigating a shooting that happened Sunday night around 6:30 near North Payne and Wythe Streets.

Officers responded to multiple calls of shots fired and found an adult male shot in the upper body. He was taken to a hospital for treatment and was later listed in stable condition.

This all happened about one block from the Braddock Road Metro Station. It's unclear what prompted the shooting. Alexandria police say they know the public is still very concerned about the unsolved murder of music teacher Ruthanne Lodato.Though this investigation is in the initial phase, they say obvious differences in the crimes lead detectives to believe these incidents are not connected.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Detective Dan Gordon with the Alexandria Police Department at 703-746-6685.
