Melee Ensues After 2 Bodies Found In North Philly House

Posted: Updated:

There was chaos and confusion on a North Philadelphia street after police made a horrific discovery Saturday.

Witnesses reacted with rage and grief. Two people are dead, and now police are trying to piece together what could have led to all of this.

FOX 29's Dave Kinchen reported live from police headquarters Saturday night that investigators were still trying to find out how this whole thing happened.

We do know that this is an incident that has literally shaken up an entire city block.

There was an all-out brawl on the 2600 block of West Somerset Street. Police cruisers raced in to provide crowd control. Video shows officers subduing some of the melee, arresting a handful of people just hours after the discovery of two bodies inside this house Saturday afternoon.

Emotions were running raw all day.

Police say a 30-year-old woman was shot in the chest, and a 40-year-old man was shot in the head. Both were found just before 3 p.m. Investigators were at first calling it a possible murder-suicide, but no weapon has been found.

Police tell us they are still looking for the weapon. Meanwhile, the names of the victims were not immediately being released, Kinchen reported.
