Stray mutt becomes ballpark pup, Brewers caring for homeless dog

PHOENIX (KSAZ) -

Spring training games start next week and when they do the Milwaukee brewers will have a brand new addition in their dugout.  It's not the leagues top hitter or best pitcher but he is getting a lot of attention.

Of all the places he could have gone, he went to the Brewers Spring Training Facility in Maryvale where he stole the hearts of players and staff. The team has gotten him veterinarian care after it appears he was hit by a car and now the pup is having a ball.

"He's awesome. he's a good dog, just comes out here and has fun watching everything. He pays attention very well," said Yovani Gallardo with the Brewers.

You can find Hank practicing with his favorite pitcher Yovani Gallardo, cozying up to catcher Jonathon Lucroy, and cooling off in the clubhouse with minor league player Ariel Pena.  "Most of the guys here I'm sure we all have dogs back home and not everyone can bring em out because were out were working, but to have this little guy out here running around with us it's fun, spring training gets long and this makes us enjoy it a little more," said Gallardo.

When Hanks not with the players, he's watching from the stands, or interacting with Brewers fans! "Oh he's sweet, he's a sweet dog," said Terry Dornic.

Not only did players and staff give the stray shelter they named him after baseball great Hank Aaron dressed him up in a jersey, and they even keep his water bowl next to the team coolers.

Hank stays at a staff members' home after the games. Everyone's hoping that his owner will come forward but if they don't the staff plans to give him a home in Milwaukee when the regular season starts.
