Woman walking killed in hit-and-run in Center Line

CENTER LINE, Mich. (WJBK) -

A fatal hit-and-run pedestrian accident on 11 Mile Road just east of Van Dyke Avenue in Centerline is under investigation.

Around 11:30 p.m. Thursday a body was found in the roadway. Emergency crew responded and found small signs of life but the victim was pronounced dead at the hospital. She is a white female in her 60s.

An autopsy performed Friday morning concluded the woman died from injuries sustained from a vehicle accident.

"The injuries that she sustained were directly related to being involved in a motor vehicle accident," says Paul Myszenski, Director of Public Safety. A cut on her head and severe internal injuries were discovered.

Police believe she may have been walking home.
