More winter weather for DC Tuesday; 60s later this week

Posted: Updated:
WASHINGTON - ACCUWEATHER - Snow and ice will graze Washington, D.C., late Monday night before temperatures rise beginning Tuesday afternoon.

A wave of snow arriving from the Midwest has its eyes on the Northeast for Monday night into Tuesday.

The heaviest snow will bypass Washington, D.C., well to the north, but enough snow and a bit of ice can fall to make roads and sidewalks slippery for the morning drive Tuesday.

Roads will turn wet for the Tuesday afternoon commute as temperatures rise into the upper 40s.

Above-average temperatures will then dominate weather headlines for Washington, D.C., the rest of the week with highs in the middle 50s anticipated for Wednesday and Thursday.

Temperatures will then rise into the 60s on Friday.

With the warmup will come rain instead of snow later in the week, as well as the potential for minor flooding. Piles of snow will clog storm drains and the uneven weight of melting snow can lead to roof failures.
