Man Dies When His Car Strikes Pole, Splits Into Two

Santa Fe Springs, CA -

(FOX 11 / CNS) An unidentified male was killed in Santa Fe Springs today when his speeding car hit a pole, authorities said.

The vehicle struck a light pole at high speed in the 9900 block of Norwalk Boulevard around 1:40 a.m., and the driver was dead the scene, said Sgt. Gerry McAllister of the Whittier Police Department, which patrols Santa Fe Springs.

The vehicle had been southbound on Norwalk near the intersection with Smith Avenue and split in two after striking the pole, he said. The two sections of the car were about 120 feet apart, a news videographer reported from the scene.
