Commuters faced snow covered roadways and dangerous driving conditions in and around the Washington, D.C. metro area Thursday morning.

As predicted, the region received a heavy amount of snow that began falling Wednesday night.

Most lanes along Interstate 95 and the Capital Beltway were still snow covered early Thursday. Several inches were on the ground by 2:00 a.m.

Snow plows were out in full force along major highways. Some side roads appeared to have yet been touched.

FOX 5’s Lauren DeMarco, Dave Rysak, Wisdom Martin, and Matt Gaffney captured images of the early morning commute.
