Police: Ferndale break-ins solved by footprints in the snow

Posted: Updated:
FERNDALE, Mich. (WJBK) -

Police say two home invasions in Ferndale were solved after officers tracked footprints left in the snow.

The first break-in occurred at a home on Ardmore Drive, east of Woodward Avenue. The homeowner alerted police but no arrest was made.

Then, a week later on Feb. 11, another home on the same block was also broken into. Fresh footprints in the snow were discovered leading from that house to the house next door.

Police say the footprints were made by a Nike tennis shoe and, as they were photographing the prints, a man was dropped off at the house wearing Nike tennis shoes. Officers noticed the shoes belonging to 29-year-old Christopher Jury matched the tracks in the snow.

Police got a search warrant for the Jury's home, recovered stolen items from both break-ins and arrested him.
