Taylor man returns home, shot in the head by burglar

Posted: Updated:
TAYLOR, Mich. (WJBK) -

A Taylor man is in critical condition after being shot by a home intruder.

FOX 2's Andrea Isom reports 42-year-old John Joseph Henry returned home with his wife Monday night. The couple noticed the back door had been kicked in, but did not think someone would still be inside. They were wrong - and were surprised to find the intruder.

Police say the intruder and Henry struggled and a gun went off, hitting Henry in the head. The wife was unharmed and was told to hide in a corner. The intruder left the home and the wife called 911.

Police say the suspect is a thin, white male about 5 feet 7 inches tall in his late 20s or early 30s.

Police are warning to not risk getting into an altercation with an intruder, but rather to retreat immediately and call 911.
