Howard power outage disrupts CTA train service

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

A power outage at the Howard rail yard has brought CTA Yellow Line trains to a halt and caused delays on the Red and Purple Lines.

The Howard yard lost power about 4:55 p.m., according to CTA spokeswoman Catherine Hosinski.

Yellow Line trains remain stopped as of 5:50 p.m., while backup generators are being used to operate switches for Red and Purple Line trains, Hosinski said.

She said delays are estimated at a 10 to 15 minute wait between trains, with longer delays to be expected closer to Howard.

Yellow Line riders are encouraged to use the No. 97 Skokie bus as an alternative, Hosinski said.
