Ice hampers Mid-Atlantic travel

Posted: Updated:

WASHINGTON (AP) — Mid-Atlantic commuters are dealing with tricky travel in the wake of an ice storm.

Baltimore-Washington International Airport reports some flights delayed or cancelled Wednesday. Washington's two major airports say travelers should expect significant disruptions through the morning.

The Maryland Transit Administration has reduced the number of afternoon trains out of Washington on the MARC Brunswick line after a troublesome morning. Spokesman Paul Shepard tells The Frederick News-Post that two morning trains hit fallen trees on the tracks.

He says no one was hurt in either incident.

Shepard says passengers from the first affected train got off just west of Brunswick and put on a later train. Then that train hit a fallen tree about a mile down the line, and passengers were transferred again.
