Elderly man hit by vehicle in Mount Prospect

MOUNT PROSPECT, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

An elderly man was hit by a vehicle Monday afternoon in northwest suburban Mount Prospect.

Police responded to Algonquin Road just west of Elmhurst Road about 4:30 p.m. and found the 71-year-old pedestrian in the left turn lane, Mount Prospect police said in a statement.

A 52-year-old Barrington man was the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle that struck the man, police said. He was not injured.

The Mount Prospect resident remains at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, police said. His condition was not immediately released.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash to call the Major Accident Investigation Team at (847) 870-5656.
