ROCKVILLE, Md. -

There is a good, close-up look at the suspect in a string of smash-and-grab burglaries of businesses in Montgomery County.

Montgomery County police released two pictures of the suspect Friday and confirmed at least ten break-ins of businesses in the county since Thanksgiving. They are hoping the release of the photographs will help them solve the crimes.

Previous surveillance video showed a suspect with his head and face covered, who used a sledgehammer or similar instrument to smash into glass doors. He went straight for the cash register even while alarms were on and got out within minutes.

Among the stores targeted were a Subway restaurant in the 15000 block of Frederick Road and the Kwik Stop Beer and Wine store a few doors down.

While the burglar usually targets stores in strip malls, he also struck the Corner Bakery and the Lindt Chocolate store at the Rio Shopping Center in Gaithersburg.

Major Tim Marsh with Rockville City Police says they are strongly recommending that business owners not leave cash in their cash registers at night.

Montgomery County Crime Solvers is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to an arrest.
