Sheriff: Bags of body parts found in St. Clair Co.

(WJBK) -

Multiple bags containing body parts have been found near I-94 in St. Clair County, according to police.

Police say at least five bags have been found in the area along Allington Road between Fred W. Moore Highway and Trumble Road in China Township. One of the bags was found on Fred Moore Highway.

Human remains also appear to have been scattered in plain sight across the area.

Investigators are unclear at this time if the body parts are from one person or multiple people, and are not releasing information as to how the body parts were dismembered.

The bags were discovered around 4 p.m. Wednesday after someone called police.

"A citizen that came across garbage bags, but we also have some tips coming in of a vehicle that was possibly dumping garbage, which could be our human remains," says Sheriff Tim Donnellon of St. Clair Co.

Police are looking for a middle-aged white female driving a mid-90s gray or tan colored SUV.
