John O'Hurley: Back On Stage

Posted: Updated:

John O'Hurley is back on stage in Costa Mesa playing lawyer Billy Flynn in "Chicago". He talked to Steve and Heather about what makes this production of the hit play so incredible.

"This may be the best touring cast of all the years...we have such a great production of it down there...last night when the orchestra started playing the overture, I had never heard it played so well...of the thousand plus performances that I've done."

O'Hurley is an actor who's done it all. Steve asked him what he thinks he's best known for, John's answer? All of them!

"Seinfeld obviously still lives on today...Dancing With the Stars, there's always a group of people that knew that. Family Feud. But I do have a small but loyal group of kids now because I do so many carton now. Spongebob (Squarepants) as King Neptune...Phineas and Ferb...it's the Seinfeld for kids."

O'Hurley says even though Seinfeld is long gone, he's still "playing" the character he did on the show...in real life.

"After Seinfeld ended, the Peterman Company ran into some financial dificultites...and a year after that, John Peterman, the real J. Peterman with the real J Peterman Company called me and said would you like to put the company back together?...I've owned the J. Peterman catalog with the real J. Peterman...it's one of the greatest acts of identity theft ever. I'm not giving it back!"

Chicago has started its run at Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa. It goes through Sunday: http://scfta.org
