Super Bowl ticket price mistake gives fan false hope

NEW JERSEY (MYFOXNY.COM) -

Justin Dolan thought he had scored. He bought two tickets for Sunday's Super Bowl on StubHub for $480. Most tickets in the upper bowl, where he and his dad would be sitting, are going for three times that amount: about $1,500.

"We have an opportunity to go to a Super Bowl in our hometown and to see it at that price was a real dream come true," Dolan said. "That was our chance."

StubHub now says those reasonably priced Super Bowl tickets were a mistake. The price was missing a zero. They were supposed to be $4,800 not $480.

Smita Saran, a StubHub spokesperson, called the situation "unfortunate." She said the buyer made a mistake and called StubHub immediately, and StubHub contacted Dolan and issued him a refund and a $480 credit for a future purchase.

But Dolan said he wants StubHub to honor the ticket price. StubHub said that would set a precedent that encourages fraud.

Dolan said he understands StubHub's policy but was hoping the company would reconsider and make his Super Bowl dream come true.
