Jim Lauderdale: Black Roses and Blue Moon Junction

Jim Lauderdale is an American country, bluegrass, and Americana singer-songwriter.As a solo artist, he has been making records since 1986. Lauderdale has released 23 studio albums, some of which are collaborations with artists like Dr. Ralph Stanley, Buddy Miller, and Donna the Buffalo. A "songwriter's songwriter," his songs have been recorded by George Strait, Elvis Costello, Blake Shelton, the Dixie Chicks, Vince Gill, and Patty Loveless.

He joined us on Good Day LA to talk about being at the Grammy's Sunday night since he was nominated for one. He also discussed his collaboration with Buddy Miller and promoted his new CD's "Black Roses" and "Blue Moon Junction."

According to Jim, Americana is "an umbrella term for American roots music, roots rock, bluegrass, country, folk, r&b, and soul."

At the end of his interview, Jim performed some of the song, "The King of Broken Hearts".
