NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Along with it being the first outdoor Super Bowl in a cold weather city, Super Bowl 48 is unique in its lineup of musical acts performing BEFORE the big day.

The VH1 Super Bowl Blitz will feature rap star J. Cole who will kick off the six day, six concert series on Monday night.

The St. John's University alum who hails from North Carolina returns to Queens for a special performance at neighboring Queens College.

"I would drive past  Queens College to volunteer for  an after school program.. I would let them shoot basketball and play soccer," recalled Cole about his early days volunteering in New York City.

Monday's show begins at 11 p.m. at the Colden Auditorium at Kupferberg Center for the Arts. Doors open at 9:30 p.m.

Tickets are still available. CLICK HERE for details.

Cole plays the theater at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night.

The lineup throughout the week for the VH1 Super Bowl Blitz includes Janelle Monae; Fall Out Boy; TLC, Goo Goo Dolls and Gavin Degraw.

At least a dozen scathing reviews were printed about Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s new book on a preservative used in vaccines before it was released. It's not fair, says Kennedy Jr., and he explained why during Good Day New York. "They attacked me for what they believed was going to be in the book which was a discussion about autism and that is not in the book," said Kennedy Jr.

When 826 NYC, a nonprofit organization that fosters creative writing skills, asked children ages 9-12 to dream up the ultimate lemonade stand, the responses were huge. The winning project of  The Great Lemonation Imagination Collaboration was turned into a real lemonade stand complete with free lemonade in Manhattan's Flatiron District. The organization's members were also required to help run the stand that went up at Broadway and 23rd Street on Wednesday.
