Prince George’s County police are investigating a police-involved shooting that resulted in a suspect of an armed robbery wounded.
Officers responded to the 3300 block of Walters Lane in Forestville at around 5:45 p.m. Wednesday for an armed robbery at a liquor store.
Police say at least two suspects held up a store employee at gunpoint. The employee complied with their demand for cash and the suspects fled in a minivan afterwards.
Patrol officers pursued the minivan into Northeast D.C. where it crashed into a utility pole on Clay Place near 57th Street.
Police confronted at least two suspects running from the crash and a Prince George’s County officer fired his weapon.
Police say one of the suspects was wounded, but it was not clear if the suspect was struck by the officer or if he shot himself.
The wounded suspect was taken to a Prince George’s County hospital.
A second suspect is in the custody of D.C. police.
Police say a handgun and money were recovered from the scene of the crash.
The six-year veteran officer who fired his weapon has been place on routine administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
