Beware counterfeit Super Bowl tickets

Posted: Updated:
NEW JERSEY (MYFOXNY.COM) -

Super Bowl 48 is around the corner. Fox 5 got a peak at what the coveted tickets to the biggest game in America look like, thanks to Lance Patania of prominenttickets.com.

Patania says he's receiving a lot of interest from people in the states of Colorado and Washington, the homes of this year's Super Bowl contenders.

This year, not only are tickets to the game in high demand but also tickets to the parties in and around New York.

Jared Smith, the president of Ticketmaster North America, is warning fans that a lot of counterfeit tickets are out there.

"It's almost impossible to give you a dollar figure on what happens across the entire industry, but it's not uncommon for a very, very hot concert or something like the Super Bowl of that stature, that size of an event to have hundreds if not thousands of counterfeit tickets circulating through the industry," he said.

The NFL is urging consumers to buy their tickets from a legitimate source.
