EVANSTON, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Evanston police have issued an alert about four robberies that happened since Tuesday in the northern suburb.

All four robberies happened in the southern part of Evanston, and involved two teens robbing people as residents walked home after parking their vehicles, police said.

The suspects wear dark clothing and have displayed a firearm in some of the robberies, police said. They knocked victims to the ground in other cases, and have taken money and cell phones.

The first robbery happened in the 200 block of Custer Avenue about 10:10 p.m. Tuesday, police said. A second robbery happened twenty minutes later, and two blocks away in the 400 block of Custer Avenue.

They returned to the area Wednesday for another robbery in the 300 block of Custer Avenue about 7 p.m., police said.

The most recent robbery happened Thursday about 6:25 p.m. in the 700 block of Hinman Avenue, police said.

Police are urging the public to be aware of their surroundings and call 911 to report any suspicious people.
