Study: Men More Likely To Pile On Lbs After Marriage

Posted: Updated:

A study from the University of Minnesota found that men could actually be more likely to let themselves go with weight after marriage than women do.

According to the analysis of project EAT data, over half of men who tied the knot, 58.5%, were found to be overweight compared to 39.8% of their female counterparts. Furthermore, these men weighed 13% more than males identified as "single" or in a "committed relationship" and were 25% more likely to be overweight or obese.

The study surveyed some 2,300 young people from the American Midwest. 35% of these men were casually dating, 42% were in a committed relationshiop, and 23% were married. The average age was 25.3 years old.
