Today is Thursday, Jan. 16, the 16th day of 2014. There are 349 days left in the year.

OBAMACARE SECURITY FLAWS (9:10 am) - If you can't shop at Target and not have your personal info stolen,  how safe is the all the personal life-controlling data you plug into the Obamacare website. Today not one but two House Committees look at the security flaws on the Federal Affordable Care website, and what happens to people who's identities are stolen. 9:30 am House Oversight Committee: 2154 Rayburn HOB. House Cable Channel 33  & 9:10 am House Space Science & Technology Rayburn HOB 9:10 House Cable Channel 18

LONG TERM UNEMPLOYMENT (10:45 am) - Remember a couple of weeks ago how both parties said they were working in a deal to restore long term unemployment insurance benefits? Well they'll still working. The benefits ran out at the end of December. Republicans want offsetting spending cuts. Democrats want them restored with no concessions on their part. Dueling press conferences this morning should include fingers of blame being pointed on both sides. Nancy Pelosi At: 10:45 AM at HVC Studio A.  Speaker Boehner at 11:30 AM

SENATE BUDGET VOTE - Congress is set to approve a $1.1 trillion budget financing federal agencies this year, a  compromise that prevents an election-year government shutdown.  The Democratic-controlled Senate plans to give final congressional approval to the immense spending measure, possibly today . The Republican-run House passed the package Wednesday in a lopsided 359-67 vote showing how both parties could take credit for the measure - and how both wanted to avoid the bad publicity from the past in fighting over it.

OBAMA COLLEGE AFFORDABILITY - 11:20 am President Obama fought and lost a fight over keeping college loan rates where they were last year. The rates actually quadrupled for a few days as he argued with republicans. Today the President and First Lady make a rare policy appearance at the Executive Office Building promoting new plans for the administration in its words "to expand access to college" Its another topic to be included in this months State of the Union speech before congress.

Today's Weather:

@fox5weather: Early snow showers are moving out with sunny and cool conditions moving in. High temps in the low 40s this afternoon.

Today's History:

In 1920, Prohibition began in the United States as the 18th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution took effect, one year to the day after its ratification. (It was later repealed by the 21st Amendment.)

In 1991, the White House announced the start of Operation Desert Storm to drive Iraqi forces out of Kuwait.

In 2003, the space shuttle Columbia blasted off for what turned out to be its last flight. The mission ended in tragedy on Feb. 1, when the shuttle broke up during its return killing all seven crew members.

Today's Quote:

“Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.”  Thomas Edison
