Today is Tuesday, Jan. 14, the 14th day of 2014. There are 351 days left in the year.

MARYLAND OBAMACARE HEARING - 12:00 pm Maryland's Lt Gov. Anthony Brown gets grilled today about the rough start of of Maryland's Obamacare health insurance website.  Brown will testify as Legislative hearings take up an emergency fix to giving Marylanders retroactive coverage through the Maryland Health Insurance Plan. Brown, who's running for Governor, touted himself as the "point person" on getting the site launched. The sites rampant glitches left many without coverage. Many glitches have been fixed since Oct. 1, officials are still working to get the state’s exchange goal of 260,000 by March 31st.

CONGRESS BUDGET VOTE - It's still not exactly a love-fest on Capitol Hill but Republicans and Democrats will move today to pass a bipartisan $1.1 trillion spending bill that would pay for the operations of government through October.  The deal signals an end of the nasty budget battles of last year.  The most severe parts of the Sequester cuts will be avoided but there are also restoration of cuts that were aimed at the Pentagon. The bottom line is both parties are facing voters this year, and neither side wants a repeat of the shutdowns that sent Congresses approval ratings in a nosedive.

OBAMA SUBJECT CHANGE? By his own end of year press conference, President Obama himself admitted 2013 wasn't his best year. Now, with 2014 underway the President is moving to take up subjects beyond Obamacare's problems and NSA spying. Today he holds a rare Cabinet meeting on ways to help the middle class. Tomorrow he's off to North Carolina to talk about high-tech manufacturing. On Thursday college presidents will head to the White House to discuss ways to improve workers' skills. All of this is run up to the State of the Union speech in 2 weeks.

BENGHAZI DOCUMENTS 2:00 p.m. The war between the White House and House Republicans over what did, or did not happen at the US Consulate attack in Benghazi Libya that killed four Americans continues today. The Republican controlled House Select Committee on intelligence opens hearings into why Congressional members say they've been unable or frustrated in their efforts to get documents from the Administration as they pursue their investigations.  House Visitors Center Room 304. http://intelligence.house.gov
