TAMPA (FOX 13) -

From their Facebook photos, the Oulsons appear to be a normal happy couple raising a 3-year-old daughter at their home in Land O' Lakes.

"I was there in the delivery room when their daughter was born. I remember how proud Chad was that he was a dad and what that meant to them," said Glenda O'Meara.

But everything would change inside a movie theater on Monday afternoon.

"A happy normal family just completely torn apart," O'Meara said.

Chad Oulson would die shortly after being shot inside this theater. His wife Nicole tried protecting him and suffered a serious injury to the hand. She would later be treated and released from St. Joseph's hospital In Tampa. Family friend Glenda O'Meara spoke with her by phone shortly after.

"I told her I loved her and what else do you say I love her and I hurt for her," she described.

According to her Facebook page Nicole Oulson works for USAA. Chad was into motorsports and worked for SkyPowersports in Port Richey. Both loved being parents.

"I'm just not sure how to gather my thoughts about it my heart hurts for them I know Chad and Nicole, they been together a lot of years," O'Meara said. "It's a senseless loss how do you explain something like that?"
