Today is Friday, Jan. 10, the 10th day of 2014. There are 355 days left in the year.

OBAMACARE SECURITY- Obamacare & Security breaches: Both were the big headaces for the President, and fodder for the Republican party in 2013.  Today they get a bit of a "mashup". The GOP took 40 votes last year to stop, end, ding or otherwise try to block Obamacare.  So far, it's still intact but the GOP is making it clear 2014 is going to be more of the same. Today the House is expected to approve a measure to kick off an election-year challenge to the troubled 4-year-old law. The bill will place strict rules on the Obama Adminstration to notify Obamacare policy holders if any of their personal information is breached.  The White House opposes the bill saying it's redunant given the rules already in the law.

SEXISM AT THE ACADEMIES - The U.S Military has been under increasing pressure to stomp out sexual harrasment in the ranks, but the futre commisioned officers in U.S. military academies also have work to do.  Set for release this morning a yearly Pentagon report on sexual assaults at the the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Air Force Academy and West Point says sports and club teams need to expand training.  Overall, reported sexual assaults at the academies were down, from 80 to 70. At the Naval Academy, three members of the football team faced accusations in a complicated sexual assault case involving a female student at an off-campus party. Charges were dropped against one team member and may be dropped against another. The third is still scheduled for trial. 2012 Report: http://www.sapr.mil/index.php/annual-reports

HEALTHCARE IN MARYLAND - 2:00PM Maryland was one of the first state goverments to embrace Obamacare and quickly announced it would set up it's own website to allow residents to sign up for policies.  But while the Federal Exchange has gotten a lot of talk because it got off to a rough start, today Maryland's officals are expected to announce some changes for their state site.  In Baltimore today, Gov. Martin O’Malley and Lt. Gov. Anthony G. Brownplan to introduce emergency legislation that would grow enrollment in the Maryland Health Insurance Plan, a separate state-run program that normally covers high-risk individuals. People would have to pay a premium, which is set by how much money they make, but it's usually higher than market rates, and would may be allowed to stay on the plan for only a few months.

OIL DRILLING & EARTHQUAKES - Washington Monument and National Cathedral are still under repairs from the Earthquake in August 2012. Earthquakes occuring in the U.S. in recent year that have seismologists scratching their heads and looking for answers.  Today a House committee asks a pointed question: Is offshore oil drilling ont the East Coast playing a roll in causing earthquakes? The Natural Resouces Committe opens hearings today looking into technology currently used to measure sesimic activity.  They'll also ask if we should go ahead with new drilling projects if that technology needs to be updated.  Live Feed:  Longworth Building 1324 http://naturalresources.house.gov/calendar/eventsingle.aspx?EventID=363692
