Soldier surprises daughter with reunion at school

Staff Sergeant Mike Olmstead's family anxiously awaited his arrival after being away from home for more than a year.  His wife Katie and daughter Robin ran into his arms as soon as he walked off the plane.

"Saw the skyline, started tearing up and soon as I saw these two... words can't describe it" said SSG Olmstead.

Olmstead an Army police officer was stationed in South Korea amid concerns over North Korea's possession of Nuclear Weapons.

His family described his job as "kind of police and he's a desk sergeant".

But SSG Olmstead still had one more mission to complete, surprising his youngest daughter Chloe at her school.

"She doesn't thing I come home until next week sometime so yeah, this will be a surprise for her too" said Olmstead.

11 year-old Chloe though her and her 5th Grade class are going to the library to study Latin America. She had no idea that she was about to reunite with her father. School staff waited on pins and needles as her father snuck up on her.

"Look up hugs... look at you" said Olmstead, Chloe exclaimed "you're home!" as her classmates and school staff applauded the reunion.

"Yeah I was like who's this and then I looked at him a second time and I noticed it was my dad...  I was really happy cause I haven't seen him in a long time" said Chloe.

Olmstead says he's home for good this time around.
