Weekend Roundup: Photo LA & Dog Haus

Posted: Updated:

FOX 11's food and fun expert Mar Yvette searches the Los Angeles area for some of the best places to eat, drink, shop and have a great time. Featured guests then swarm our FOX Television Center parking lot every Thursday morning between 9am and 10am on Good Day LA, creating a big party as one jam-packed segment known as the Weekend Roundup!

Here's more information about the guests we featured:

Photo LA

LA's largest and longest running photography fair, Photo LA 2014 at the LA Mart in Downtown LA is your chance to see photo-based art from some of the world's most talented artists including this year's honoree, renowned celebrity photographer Douglas Kirkland. Kirkland's images take us through a who's who spanning five decades: Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, Audrey Hepburn, Sophia Loren, Coco Chanel, Charlie Chaplin, John Wayne, Angelina Jolie, Robert Redford and the list goes on. Along with all the great exhibits, Photo LA includes lectures, roundtable discussions and docent tours. Kirkland will offer a keynote titled "A Fifty Year Love Affair with Photography: A Life in Pictures" on Saturday, January 18 which is FREE and open to the public. Photo LA takes place Friday, January 17 - Sunday, January 19. For more info visit: www.photola.com

Dog Haus

We all know the Rose Parade was born in Pasadena, but did you know that Pasadena is home of the cheeseburger?! (It was invented in 1924 by Lionel Sternberge at a local restaurant called Rite Spot.) To kick off Pasadena's annual Cheeseburger Week (January 12-17), popular gourmet hot dog and slider spot Dog Haus is hosting a slider eating challenge to find out who can eat the most Dog Haus sliders in 6 minutes. The 12 competitors have already been selected through qualifying rounds, but that doesn't mean you can't join the fun. Hit up the party from 12pm-4pm for samples, swag, beer from local breweries, live music and a Giant Jenga competition.
