BWI, Dulles break decades-old record low

Posted: Updated:

BALTIMORE (AP) - The National Weather Service says the temperature has reached a record low at both Baltimore-Washington Thurgood Marshall International and Dulles International airports.

The agency says the temperature was 3 degrees at BWI just before 6 a.m. Tuesday with a wind chill of minus 16. Dulles was at 3 degrees around 9 a.m. The records for the day at both airports were set in 1988 at 8 degrees.

Reagan National Airport just outside Washington had so far just missed its record low temperature of 5 degrees set in 1884. The airport got down to 6 degrees early Tuesday.
