Seamus & Juliana Dever: We Met At Samuel French Bookstore

Posted: Updated:

On tonight's episode of "Castle," Detective Kevin Ryan, who's played by Seamus Dever, finds himself in a deadly situation at the same time his wife, Jenny, played by Seamus's real-life wife Juliana Dever, goes into labor.

So the big question is, will Ryan survive long enough to become a father?  (We can't say with 100% certainty, but it's probably a safe bet.)

"It's actually one of the most exciting "Castle" episodes that I've seen in awhile -- and so much fun to work on," says Juliana.  "But way more dramatic than I expected it to be!  My jaw dropped when I read it. It's a very dramatic entry into the world for Baby Ryan."

Oh yeah! Think about the most simple way that the baby would actually arrive,"advises Seamus. "And then put a "Castle" twist on it where lives are in danger, things are in doubt, characters are possibly getting killed off the show. It's that kind of episode."

Seamus and Juliana Dever join Steve Edwards and Lisa Breckenridge on Good Day L.A.

Fun facts about Seamus Dever (Source: Pinnacle PR)

1.) With the encouragement of his family, inclusive of drama teacher father, it's no wonder that Seamus Dever endeavored to pursue a career in acting.  His current success as star of ABC's critical and audience favorite "Castle" is further testament to his talent.  As Homicide Detective Kevin Ryan, he proves to be a fan favorite as well; always imparting his charm, wit, and wealth of obscure knowledge.  Season 5 proved to be an eventful one for Dever as we delved further into his character's marriage to his longtime girlfriend who is coincidentally portrayed by his real-life wife, Juliana.

2.) In addition to "Castle," Dever has played authoritative figures on the likes of "Army Wives" and "General Hospital;" both of which had him starring as a doctor.  Other forays into television include "Mad Men," "Drop Dead Diva," NCIS," and all three "CSI" franchises.  He's also appeared in such films as "Hollywoodland" with Adrien Brody and Ben Affleck, and the independent comedy "Ready or Not."

3.) Well known to theatre audiences, Dever assumed the iconic role of Alex in A Clockwork Orange for which he received rave reviews and nominations for an Ovation, Garland, and Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award.  Another highlight amidst his over 60 plays and musicals is his notable performance in iWitness at The Mark Taper Forum.

4.) Born in Flint, MI, Dever and his family moved to Bullhead City, AZ when he was six-years-old.  He successfully transitioned to Valedictorian of his high school and later received a Bachelor's in theatre in a mere three years at Northern Arizona University.  He was then accepted into the graduate program at the prestigious Carnegie-Mellon University and The Moscow Art Theatre for which he is the youngest person to earn his Master's degree.  Dever is also a lifetime member of the renowned Actor's Studio.

5.) He and his wife reside in Los Angeles with their two rescue dogs and are active in animal rights, environmental causes, and proud vegetarians.

Fun facts about Juliana Dever (Source: Metropolitan Talent)

1.) Born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, Juliana Dever moved to Los Angeles where she began her life as a professional actress, producer, world traveler and rescue-dog lover. As an actress, she is best known for her recurring role the last 5 seasons on the ABC series Castle as Jenny Ryan, with art imitating life as she plays the TV wife of her real-life husband, Seamus Dever, aka Detective Ryan.

2.) Juliana has also appeared on stage, in film, as a TV host and on other television shows including Criminal Minds and Scandal. An avid traveler, Juliana is currently developing a show encouraging Americans to get out there and discover the planet. At this count, she's traveled to 5 continents, 35 countries and hundreds of cities, regions and islands – all with an irrational fear of flying! She lived for a short time in Russia where she studied acting with the Moscow Art Theatre, and on a small Greek island where she lead a mostly all-Greek cast while shooting an independent film. She's also baguette-deep in learning to speak French,
mais oui!

3.) Juliana is a proud ambassador to Best Friend's Animal Society, helping to open no-kill
shelters across the US and also works with Farm Sanctuary and Stray Rescue of St.
Louis, a brave organization dedicated to saving the lives and curbing the problems that
are a result of some 30,000 strays that roam the streets of her hometown. After rescuing
their second beagle they both became supporters of Beagle Freedom Project's efforts to
free beagles used in harsh and unnecessary testing of beauty products.

4.) She'd like to ask everyone to stop putting shampoo in their eyes, ok?

‘Castle' airs tonight at 10:00pm on ABC.
