FORT WASHINGTON, Md. -

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal accident at the intersection of Indian Head Highway and Palmer Road in Fort Washington.

On January 4, 2014, just after 4 o’clock in the morning, officers were called to the intersection for a report of a two car collision. Patrol officers arrived on the scene to find one the drivers suffering from critical injuries; he died a short time later at a local hospital.

PGPD preliminary investigation reveals an Acura TL and Ford Expedition were traveling southbound on Indian Highway approaching Palmer Road. Investigators believe the driver of the Acura struck the rear of the Ford. The Acura lost control of the car, the left runway, and struck a tree; the driver of the Ford was not hurt.

The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit’s preliminary investigation revealed speed as an apparent factor.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit at (301) 306-5640.
