Md. health exchange bill to be submitted next week

Posted: Updated:
ANNAPOLIS, Md. -

An emergency measure will be submitted in Maryland to put people who thought they were enrolled in a health care plan through the state's troubled health exchange but still did not receive coverage into a separate state safety net health plan.

Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown announced Friday the measure will be submitted at the start of Maryland's legislative session, which begins next week.

Brown estimated the number of people who fall into the category of completing enrollment but still failing to get insurance to be between a few hundred and 5,000. They would receive insurance through the Maryland Health Insurance Program.

Brown spoke of the legislation during an update on work on the health exchange with Gov. Martin O'Malley.
