Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Roughly 2.5 million people across the country will receive a pay raise when the clock strikes midnight on New Year's Day.

A total of 13 states are set to increase their minimum wage.

Topping that list is Washington State, where the minimum wage will go up to $9.32 per hour.

In Illinois, the rate will remain at $8.25. Governor Pat Quinn continues to push lawmakers for an increase to $10 per hour and the issue will likely be addressed in the New Year.
