East Los Angeles, CA -

(FOX 11 / CNS) A large pothole prompted closure of a freeway transition road in the Boyle Heights area today and left as many as 20 vehicles with flat tires, authorities said.

The problem was reported about 6:30 a.m. on the transition from the southbound Golden State (5) Freeway to the eastbound San Bernardino (10) Freeway, said California Highway Patrol Officer Pete Bishop. No injuries were reported.

Crews were sent to repair the pothole, which was in the Number 2 lane of the transition road. The pothole was about six feet long and three feet wide, and the pavement had crumbled within it, exposing metal reinforcement bars.
