CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Two men were arrested after allegedly trying to burglarize a home Saturday in northwest suburban Mount Prospect.

The men pounded on the door and rang the doorbell of the home in the 1400 block of South Robert Drive. When no one answered, they forced their way inside, police said in a release.

However, they ran away after someone was inside the home, police said.

Responding officers arrested Heriberto J. Varela and Luis E. Machado nearby, and the resident of the home positively identified them both, police said.

No one was hurt in the incident.

Varela, of the 1400 block of South Circle Drive in Mount Prospect, and Machaco, of the 4500 block of West Parker Avenue in Chicago, were both charged with one count of residential burglary, police said.

Both appeared for a bond hearing at the Rolling Meadows courthouse Monday, where Varela was ordered held on $20,000 bond and Machado was held on $10,000 bond, the release said.

They will both next appear in court Jan. 23.

Police are also reminding residents to call 911 if someone suspicious comes to their door or refuses to leave their property.
