GREENWICH, Conn. (AP) - The father of a Middlebury woman killed in a hit-and-run accident says he can understand that the accident occurred, but cannot forgive the driver who left the scene.

The Republican American reports that Richard Beebe says he can't believe the driver has not turned himself in.

Police say 21-year-old Meghan Beebe was struck early Saturday morning in a Greenwich parking lot after a night out with friends.

Police say the driver stopped briefly after hitting her, then fled, dragging her under the car. The vehicle is described as a dark red or cranberry colored Pontiac G6 built between 2005 and 2010. It's low to the ground and may have tinted windows.

Beebe was a 2010 graduate of the Westover School in Middlebury and studied sociology at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
