CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

After a warm and soggy Saturday, temperatures are expected to continue plummeting across Chicago.

Monday temperatures will top out at just 6 degrees, with wind chills dipping as low as 18 degrees below zero, National Weather Service meteorologist Amy Seeley said.

The day's low temperature is expected to bottom out at 2 degrees at O'Hare, challenging the area's record low of minus 7, Seeley said.

Meanwhile, there is a 60 percent chance of precipitation across the Chicago area, with less than an inch of snow expected to fall during rush hour, just after 5 p.m., according to the National Weather Service

Despite the chilly weather and snowfall, the cold weather shouldn't have a major impact on driving conditions, meteorologists said.
